After a spectacular chase in Neukölln, in which polizei officers shot twice at a fleeing car, investigators are questioning the arrested driver, a 32-year-old Serb. The polizei are also examining a possible connection to organized crime.

The chase took place on Thursday afternoon in Neuköllner Hermannstrasse. According to a polizei spokeswoman, at around 12:15 p.m., a BMW driver fled a regular traffic stop on the bridge over the S-Bahn. He crashed into two cars and a BVG bus before the man fled on foot.

When the driver fled the traffic stop, a police officer shot twice at the hood of the vehicle, the spokeswoman said.

The police said on Friday that the man was already known to the police for burglary, theft, fraud, resistance and extortion. There were four arrest warrants against him. The officers also found a fake passport with the man.
