Policeman Shot In The Neck By Suspect While Arresting Him

A military police officer was shot in the neck during an action in the community of Paraisópolis, in the south of São Paulo, this Thursday (7). The information was confirmed by the Military Police. According to the force, the shooting occurred during a surveillance operation in the area. A suspect allegedly fired at the officers, hitting one of them. The area has increased policing, and the incident remains ongoing. CNN contacted the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP). The department reported that the case is being registered with the 89th Police District, and preliminary information indicates that the criminals participated in a robbery.

According to the police, it all began in the Chácara Santo Antônio region, where the police were called after reports of robberies committed by criminals on three motorcycles. Police officers from the Motorcycle Radio Patrol located one of the suspects on Rua África do Sul. During the attempted stop, the motorcyclist fled toward Paraisópolis. During the chase, already inside the community, he fired a shot that hit one of the officers in the neck.
