Police Patrol Vehicle Runs Over Guy Laying in the Street

A man was run over by a patrol car from the State of Mexico's Security Secretariat in the municipality of Toluca last Friday, February 14.

What initially seemed like an accident turned into an act of escape by the officers involved.

According to a video captured by a witness, the incident occurred around 2:51 p.m. on Sebastian Lerdo de Tejada Highway, when the patrol car from the state agency turned onto Martin Rivera Street.

At that moment, a man who was apparently homeless was lying on the avenue, and the unit ran over him.

Although the video shows that the officers noticed the accident, instead of stopping, the patrol car briefly backed up and then left the scene without offering help to the injured man.

Even before fleeing, they allowed a car traveling in the opposite direction to pass without interrupting its escape.

Reactions from Authorities The State of Mexico Security Secretariat confirmed that the officers involved voluntarily appeared before the Public Prosecutor's office to testify about the events and clarify their probable responsibility in the incident.

In a statement, the agency detailed that, through institutional insurance, the medical expenses of the affected man are being covered, who suffered minor injuries, which will heal in a period of no more than 15 days.

Additionally, the Internal Affairs Unit of the Security Secretariat has initiated an internal investigation to determine the administrative or legal sanctions that the officers could face for their actions in this incident.

This case has generated indignation and concern among the population, not only because of the accident, but also because of the evasive attitude of the officers who, after the accident, decided to flee without offering help or assuming responsibility for their actions.

I thought Mexican hit-and-run was a stereo-type but it may actually be genetic...

Normal where I am at. At least 10 got splattered at the corner right next to my building. We make jokes around here, especially when at F-250 run over the people. We have a saying, "Muevete guey". Splat.
