The Marshfield Police Department released a video Friday afternoon of an incident that involved a police officer firing four shots at a dog after it attacked him. The incident occurred Thursday night on the city’s northwest side.

An officer responded to a call at 7:53 p.m. that a dog had charged at a 26-year-old Marshfield man and another person jogging near North Oak Avenue and West Blodgett Street, according to police.

When the officer arrived, the dog charged at the officer on two occasions and the officer fired four rounds at the dog.

The dog suffered minor injuries and is expected to survive. The dog bit the officer, who also received minor injuries, the department said.

The officer issued the dog's owner citations for having an animal running at large and for failure to license a pet, the department said. The owner will also be required to place a muzzle on the dog when it is outdoors.

No adults were home at the time of the incident, the department said. They remind pet owners to properly restrain dogs at all times, especially if they have territorial tendencies.

That is especially true when children are home alone, which may lead to enhanced aggression and territorial response by a dog, the department said.

That dog didn't even get close enough to "attack" him. It kind of looked like an ankle biter or something! Grow a set, officer!

I work for UPS and have had A LOT of incidents like these. Scanned a package and a notice came up on my delivery tool saying "deliver package to shed" which is in the backyard. opened the gate, NO dog signs what-so-ever, gate was loud upon opening too, looked around didnt see or hear any animals. got 100 feet and right to the point where the house frame cuts 90 degrees, looked to my left and saw a "big dog" bed, empty, said out loud too, "nope, fuck that" dropped the package right where I stood and turned around. I got 2 steps in the direction of the gate before I heard growling and the sound of dogs claws on gravel in a peel out fashion heading my direction with a quickness. I never looked back and to this day couldn't tell you what kind of dog it was or what color fur it had. slammed the gate so hard it bounced back and started opening again, just barely caught it before it opened wide enough for the dog to get out, i assumed.

Had another incident where a dog was left out in the front yard and as I'm running up to the house lunges from its laying position, my go to move is lowering the packing I'm delivering between me and the dog. This dog tore it up, and the lady coomes out and says oh he doesnt bite............lol here's your package........ he got teeth dont he? I got more but I'll leave you with that for now.
