CHARLESTON, SC - Authorities have released dash camera video of a chase and wreck involving three people who are currently being investigated for a series of burglaries in a West Ashley neighborhood. On May 24, investigators say 18-year-old Abraham Jenkins and two juveniles were in a stolen Crown Victoria that crashed following a police chase that ended on Willtown Road. In the newly released video, deputies can be heard that the suspect's car was traveling at a rate of 90 mph at one point. The Charleston County Sheriff's Office says that Jenkins, who was driving, eventually lost control of the car which then hit a tree and overturned. The video shows the end of the pursuit as deputies take out guns and converge on the smashed vehicle. The two juveniles who were in the car were ejected and Jenkins had to be extricated from the car. The three were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Major Jim Brady with the sheriff's office said that his office and the Charleston Police Department are working together to investigate whether the car and the three were involved in several burglaries in the Shadow Moss subdivision. |
