The siege happened in Melbourne, Australia on March 27, 2016. He gets a nice big dose of capsicum spray, ouch!

Police have detained a man who locked himself in a cupboard during a siege in Melbourne's south east on Sunday.

The man reportedly threatened people near the Dandenong Markets, about 1pm.

The man then locked himself in a fire hydrant cupboard before police forced the doors open and sprayed the man with capsicum spray.

He was pulled from his hiding place about 1.55pm and arrested.

The markets have been evacuated.

I guess it's the same logic as people who get into police pursuits. There's a very high chance they will be caught, by they try and evade the cops anyway
