Physical Altercation Between Cop and Suspect at Willowbrook Mall, Houston

HOUSTON Cell phone video taken at the Willowbrook Mall showing a physical altercation between a man and a deputy.

At a time when there's a mistrust of police throughout the country this situation shows a black suspect up against a white officer.

Deputies say what you won't see is that suspect hit the officer in the head first. The woman who took the video isn't pointing any fingers. She says deputies did the right thing.

Deputies say the suspect is 30-year-old Renard Collier. Same last name but no relation to the witness who took this video.

Mall security was flagged down because the man was acting strange in the parking lot. Police think he may have been on drugs. The suspect was tased several times.

"The guy hit the officer first and then the officer hit him and they kinda tussled a little bit and he backed up and he tased him.

The taser didn't do anything and he kept begging the man to please stop, please stop," Collier said.

The suspect the runs from the deputy who gives chase. Both men end up on the ground fighting before two security guards help the deputy make the arrest.

"It wasn't a racial issue it wasn't the cop was doing this to the guy it was what it is you see what it was. The cop pleaded with the guy.

He didn't want that blood on his hands and he really was trying to diffuse the situation the best way, and I commend the officer," Collier said.

The Precinct Four Constable says he feels very comfortable with how the officer handled this suspect. Constable Mark Herman says he used necessary force adding this video shows what men and women in law enforcement are up against everyday. Cheryl Collier is on their side.

"All officers are not bad, and if you see something going on or whatever if the officer tells you to do something just comply with what they're saying even if you in the right or the wrong," Collier said.

The suspect Renard Collier is charged with aggravated assault to an officer with no bond.

The constable says a use of force review board will review the incident.

Officer was completely justified and used high amount of restraint, should have tasered after initial assault.

Re: Physical Altercation Between Cop and Suspect at Willowbrook Mall, Houston

See what I mean? I live in this town and this ****** are fucking crazy. If the cop would had shot him he could have claim he was reaching for a gun, right? Instead, that guy is lucky he didn't encounter a lazy murdering cop because he'd be dead. I commend that cop for doing his job as a righteous police officer and using moral common sense. Don't you people see the difference between this incident and the cop who jumped out of his car guns blazing and shooting an innocent kid wearing headphones. The kid went to turn down his walkman and got shot. Wait, this isn't Brazil is it? Just checking....

FYI: That happened north of Houston at a mall called GreensPoint. That area is so bad it's known around town by the locals as GunsPoint.

Re: Physical Altercation Between Cop and Suspect at Willowbrook Mall, Houston

Cop should have shot him dead right at the beginning.

A Cop can only wrestle around just so many times with these scumbags until that cop will eventually end up stabbed and/or shot and/or jumped by the perp's fellow low life Ghetto Trash scumbags.

Cops should not have to put up criminal behavior.

Resist arrest?

Face immediate Lethal Force.

The problem is not simply one or two cases.

Now, low life Ghetto Trash Thugs already know that they can be combative and pull all kinds of cr*p and 'probably' get away with it.

This increases the frequency of this type of Thug behavior exponentially.

It is very very very dangerous for police officers to have this going on.

Liberals have imposed the mental illness of coddling criminals.

The result is that cops are now routinely resisted, far more often and to a much greater degree than they ever were before.

Insane.

I've worked in Law Enforcement for 14 years. It's all a part of the job. You willingly sign up for it, protect and serve. You can't just go shooting any dumb fuck that resists. Christ, you're as ignorant as they (people resisting) are!!
