A motorcyclist tried to steal reporter Clara Nery's phone as she prepared for a live broadcast in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at about 8:10 a.m. on July 28, 2025. The man grabbed at the phone but lost his grip. It fell, and Nery recovered it.

Nery, a TV Band reporter, was outside the broadcaster's building on Rua Oliveira Fausto, a few meters from the 2nd Military Police Battalion. The camera recorded a helmeted man riding a motorcycle along the sidewalk toward her while she looked at her phone and held a cup. He reached toward the phone as he drew alongside her. Military Police attended the scene, took her information and searched the neighborhood. The footage was handed to authorities.

That’s one way to teach a person not to always be looking at their phone.
