On May 7, 2025, at about 11 p.m., Orange County deputies responded to an apartment in the 3900 block of Titelist Court after a 911 caller claimed to have been battered and strangled there.

While deputies were outside the apartment, they heard screaming and breached the front door. Inside, they heard screaming coming from a room at the back of the apartment and moved through the apartment.

A subject in a dark hoodie appeared and attacked the deputies with a knife. Two deputies fired their agency-issued firearms, striking the subject, a 19-year-old woman.

Deputies rendered aid at the scene, and the woman was taken to a hospital, where she later died. The investigation into the shooting is still under way.
