PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. One of two masked men who robbed and pistol-whipped a Pembroke Park convenience store clerk Monday dropped a bag full of cash and cigarettes as they made their getaway, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
The armed robbery occurred shortly before 9 p.m. at The Food Store on Southwest 32nd Avenue.
Detectives said surveillance video released Wednesday shows the men burst through the door and jump over the counter, forcing the clerk to the floor.
When they couldn't figure out how to open the cash register, the robbers forced the clerk to open it, repeatedly smacking him in the head with the gun.
As they fled the store, one robber dropped his bag full of cash and cigarettes, detectives said.
Witnesses said the crooks got away in a green Toyota Camry parked a few homes away from the store. The car was last seen heading south on Southwest 32nd Avenue.
Anyone who recognizes the men is asked to call the BSO.
