On December 31, 2025, around 2 a.m., officers responded to reports of a couple walking through private yards in a neighborhood. Officers detained the man and woman and investigated suspected drug possession. The couple said they were cutting through yards to get home.

Officers separated them and asked for identification. The woman gave a name but repeatedly did not answer questions about her birth date. She said she had been drinking, felt faint and had bad legs. Officers searched her and placed her in a patrol car, then brought her back out while continuing to question her identity.

An officer told her she was going to jail. As officers tried to put her back in the car, she screamed that they were hurting her, said she could not breathe and denied fighting them. Officers continued ordering her to sit down and got her into the car.

The woman was taken to county jail and charged with obstruction of identification and resisting arrest.
