Off-duty Chicago Officer Shoots Knife Attacker on W. Leland
On November 19, 2024, near 5600 W. Leland Ave. in Chicago, an off-duty Chicago police officer saw a woman being attacked by an individual with a knife on the sidewalk. The off-duty officer approached and fired their gun, striking the individual. The individual then fled the scene. The individual was later found unresponsive inside a vehicle, taken to a hospital, and pronounced deceased.
