Three people injured and assailant shot dead in assault on New York police officers posing for photograph in Queens
A hatchet-wielding attacker charged a group of New York City police officers posing for a photograph, wounding two, one critically, before the assailant was shot dead, police have said.

The officers were on foot patrol when they were asked by a freelance photographer to pose for a picture on a street in Queens at about 2pm, a New York Police Department spokesman said.

A man carrying a hatchet charged the officers, hitting one officer in the right arm and then striking a second officer in the head, the spokesman said.

The remaining two officers fired their weapons at the man. The suspect, whose identity was not yet confirmed but who was said to be approximately 32 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 29-year-old female bystander was struck by a stray bullet. She underwent surgery and was recovering at the hospital, the spokesman said.

Both officers were being treated at Jamaica hospital, with the 25-year-old officer who was hit in the head in a critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery, police said. The other officer, who is 24, was in a stable condition, the spokesman said.

“At this point, no known motive for this attack has been established,” police commissioner William Bratton told a press conference.

All four officers involved in the incident graduated on 8 July from the city’s police academy.

The Muslim extremist who attacked rookie cops with a hatchet last week was “a crusader seeking justice’’ — and more assaults will likely follow, the head of his local New Black Panther Party warned.
“It probably won’t be the last [attack on police] because you have a lot of frustrated people out here,” Queens chapter leader Frank Sha Francois told The Post.
Francois said ax-wielding Zale Thompson wasn’t officially a member of his group, but he came to meetings and they talked about “police brutality” cases such as Eric Garner and Michael Brown.
“I don’t condone violence, but something needs to be done,” Francois said. “We need to have some type of deterrent and real oversight to deter the police from violating the laws and to know they are not above the laws.”
While he hailed the ax man as a “crusader,” Francois insisted he didn’t agree with Thompson’s methods.
“I tell people that to go up against law enforcement in this country is suicide,” he said. “Our main way to deal with it is to rally and boycotting.”
Thompson, 32, was a jihadist sympathizer who hated cops and white people, his family and friends have said.

First off God Bless these Officers and their actions regardless of the lady being shot or the fact they were brand new Officers. They acted quickly and gave the Terrorist exactly what he needed; a lead bath.

They should close all mosques he attended within the last 10 years.

They should confiscate all property owned by any and all mosques he attended within the last 10 years.

And expel all imams that attended or indoctrinated at those mosques.

i read that he was asked not to attend a mosque....i think most of his involvement with islam was online.
fact is, i suspect 90% of the trouble we have with muslims nowadays is a direct result of the interwebs..it is a powerful tool by which to spread not only fact, but hate and false reality as well
