Earlier this week, a man put lives at risk after recklessly riding a stolen and uninsured motorbike through Wood Green to evade police. Officers on their latest Operation Venice motorcycles pursued the rider who had failed to stop. They were later joined by another vehicle authorised to swiftly bring the pursuit to a safe conclusion using tactical contact. It was successful but the rider ran into Wood Green Shopping Centre and a foot chase commenced. He was detained in the second floor car park, where he was arrested. On Thursday, 21-year-old Konna Ward pleaded guilty to six offences, including riding whilst disqualified, failing to stop for police and no insurance. Ward's guilty plea comes at the same time as police release an animated video titled "The Life of a Stolen Scooter.’ The video is based on situations like the one in Wood Green and demonstrates how a stolen scooter can be used to commit multiple crimes around London, affecting several victims. Konna Ward, 21, of Farrant Avenue, Wood Green, Haringey, N22, pleaded guilty to: - Driving / Riding whilst Disqualified; - Aggravated Vehicle Taking (Aggravated by dangerous driving); - Possession With intent to supply a controlled Drug of Class B (Cannabis); - Failing to stop for police; - Racially aggravated public order offence; - No insurance. He has been remanded into custody and will be sentenced at a later date. |
