CYPRESS HILLS, Brooklyn (May 11, 2025) — A man was arrested and is now facing charges in Sunday's fatal stabbing on a Brooklyn shuttle bus.

Surveillance video recovered from the bus, which provided a clear image of the suspect, was instrumental in the apprehension, according to authorities.

Kareem McCalla, 36, is now facing a charge of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Alvin Francis, 41, was killed after an apparent dispute over a seat. It's believed he was lying over the seats at the time of the confrontation.

Police say it happened on the J90 shuttle on Etna Street and Crescent Street in Cypress Hills just before 2 p.m.

Francis was stabbed in the abdomen and was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

McCalla turned himself in on Tuesday afternoon at the NYPD’s 75th Precinct, police said. The incident happened on Sunday, mothersday. So a ton of cops around and they let him go? Vid shows he's arrested right there or is that the wounded guy.?

Officers from the 75th Precinct arrived at the bloody scene, but McCalla had already fled.

Prosecutors said McCalla told Francis to move his backpack off the seat next to him so McCalla could sit, but when the suspect felt that still wasn’t enough space—he stabbed him multiple times.

A doctor there told police he died from stab wounds to the left shoulder, left side and midsection.

“Sir, he just stabbed you, get off the bus!”

Dude gets fatally stabbed up and suddenly it’s like he’s never used public transportation in Zoo York before… like this is his first deadly altercation or something… every Zoo Yorker knows to get off the bus after being shot or stabbed, don’t hold everyone else up just because you’re about to die.

I'm really confused by what happened in the video and the event that was described in the OP. The information and the video don't seem to line-up.

Edit: Ok, I figured out that the guy in the Polo hoodie is the one that got stabbed. The other guy seems woozy because he was repeatedly punched in the head.
