A Milwaukee police sergeant accused of drunken driving in Fond du Lac County with his 13-year-old daughter in his car has been charged.
John P. Corbett, 40, made his initial court appearance Monday on counts of operating while intoxicated with a passenger under 16 years old and refusing to take an intoxication test following an arrest.
He is free on a $500 signature bond.
Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Deputy Laura Halfmann arrested Corbett Nov. 21 in the area of County Trunk WH and Ledgeview Springs Drive, said Chief Deputy Mark Strand.
Corbett’s daughter told Sgt. Chris Dobyns that the group had been deer hunting and was traveling from a tavern in Valders to Kiel.
She said she had been driving but had gotten them lost, so she woke up her father to take the wheel, Strand said.
Corbett refused to allow officials to take a sample of his blood.
A preliminary breath test revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent, more than two times the legal limit.
Corbett is due back in court Jan. 11 for a pre-trial conference.
