MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- Miami Beach police say they found a semiautomatic pistol hidden in the car of a man fatally shot by a dozen officers on Memorial Day in South Beach.
Chief Carlos Noriega previously said that 22-year-old Raymond Herisse had been unarmed. Late Wednesday, Noriega said investigators discovered the weapon while processing Herisee's car.
Noriega said whether Herisee had fired the weapon early Monday needed to be confirmed with ballistics.
Investigators say the shooting began after Herisse ignored a traffic stop, struck one officer and nearly hit four others while driving erratically.
When the car stopped, investigators say a dozen officers from Miami Beach and Hialeah fired at Herisse, killing him.
Four bystanders were struck by bullets. Three officers suffered minor injuries.
Boynton Beach police say a gas station clerk identified Herisse on Thursday as the man who shot him during a November robbery.

Here you see footage recorded on a cell phone by Narces Benoit.
The police are surrounding a car driven by Raymond Herisse. Then they started firing at the 22-year-old.
Herisse was killed, three officers and four bystanders were injured.
Benoit and his girlfriend, Ericka Davis, are accusing authorities of destroying evidence and intimidation.
They say the only reason this video is still around because they were able to hide a memory card before authorities smashed the phone that captured this incident.
They have hired a lawyer, saying they "want the right thing to be done."
