MDSO Deputy Fires at Armed Man After Stop
On 2-24-26, MDSO units were behind a vehicle westbound on 79 approaching 17, then northbound on 17 from 79. A radio call gave a location as 199 Ocean Lane Drive. The vehicle came to a stop, and a unit warned there might be a bailout. During contact, a deputy requested rescue, then called out that he fired. Other audio called out "shot fired" and "he has a gun." Officers ordered the man not to move and told him to get on the ground, turn around, and put on handcuffs. An officer asked, "Are you shot?"
