On June 17, 2025, MDSO deputies pursued a red Charger through the area of 71st Street, 79th Street, 5th Avenue and 85 Street Road.

The vehicle went toward a dead end near basketball courts. A deputy said the driver was stuck and that there would probably be a bailout, then deputies began yelling to stop firing.

Deputies reported shots fired over the radio. They shouted commands including "Put your hands behind your back" and "Drop the gun." Fire rescue was called to the north side of 85 Street Road near Large Park.

A deputy later reported that nobody was at large and asked for a corridor for fire rescue.
