These heart-stopping moments show a deranged knife-wielding man going on a 'Rambo' hunting rampage at a petrol station as terrified motorists queue for fuel.
The crazed attacker in a Union Jack hoodie forced drivers to take cover inside their vehicles as he went berserk with a huge Bowie-type blade.
Dramatic CCTV footage captured the man as he prowled around the forecourt of the Texaco petrol station in Failsworth, near Manchester, and circled stationary cars before stabbing the bodywork and trying to get inside.
The man's blade caused damage to several vehicles and smashed the windscreen of a taxi during his trail of destruction. Several drivers and passengers were also threatened.
The knife-wielding man eventually fled the forecourt towards a nearby canal but vanished before police could find him.
Today Greater Manchester Police issued CCTV footage and an e-fit of the attacker following the incident at 8.45pm on Friday 22 February.
Farhan Saleem, 37, a supervisor at the petrol station said: 'The guy was behaving like a Rambo madman and it was like something out of one of the Rambo movies.
'At the time it was a weekend when the guy came out of nowhere and just came running across the forecourt. He initially tried to get into a woman's car and she was by herself and had only just pulled up.
'She hadn't even had chance to get out and get the petrol. He started physically fighting with her and trying to get the keys but she wasn't having it and was putting up a fight.
'She looked in her thirties and must have been scared because she was alone but she was very brave. He just wanted the car and dived towards her.
'We didn't realise he had a knife in his hand at first but he was waving it around. It was very big, about a foot long. He was physically fighting, trying to snatch her key.
'There was a taxi driver who was also in the forecourt who was getting petrol and he started shouting at him, we can't hear what was going on because the windows are double glazed.
'Then he ran back across the forecourt and smashed the windscreen of another woman's car. He wanted the key to that car too.
'She ran out towards the petrol station screaming. The two guys who were working here were terrified.
'As soon as the woman got into the petrol station my colleague pushed the electrical shutter and the shutters came down.
'She was in hysterics and was on her own too.
'They didn't know what he was going to do or capable of.
He added: 'People think that this side of the counter is easy but it is not, it can be frightening.
'We couldn't go out and help, you can't catch someone who is carrying a knife.
'How can someone help in this situation without getting hurt themselves?
'One of my colleagues ran and hid in the corner behind the counter because about four years earlier someone else came in with a baseball bag and hit him over the head and smashed his skull.
'My two colleagues didn't dare move from behind the counter, that was the only safe place.'
Det Con Kate Carnally said: 'Thankfully no-one was injured during this incident at the petrol station, but staff and customers were understandably left terrified after a man brandishing a knife threatened a number of people there and damaged several cars.
'The man's intentions as he carried out these threats are still unclear at this time, but we continue to make extensive efforts to identify and trace the man responsible.
'If you recognise this man in the hooded top or if you have information as to his whereabouts now, please get in touch with police.'
The wanted man is white and described as 6ft tall and of average build. He was wearing denim jeans and boots with a white trim.
He wore a brown or black bubble jacket over a hoody top, which had the hood pulled up. The jacket had a large Union Jack motif on the front.
