LAPD and SWAT Do a Pit Maneuver Using a Bear Cat
A pursuit of a big rig driver, possibly tied to a kidnapping, came to a dramatic end in Orange County on Wednesday when police deployed an armored vehicle to intercept it. The pursuit started in the Fontana area, crossed through LA County and into Orange County. The pursuit began at around 9:30 a.m. on Palmetto Avenue and Foothill Boulevard in Fontana. The driver, who was later identified as 54-year-old Bill Fayed, continued through the 60 and 57 freeways heading into Brea. The chase continued through Orange County, passing by the Cal State Fullerton campus. According to the Fontana Police Department, the vehicle may be stolen and could possibly be tied to a kidnapping. Police said a passenger tried calling 911, saying that the driver was not letting them out of the vehicle, but the call was disconnected. At one point in the pursuit, Fayed was seen opening the door, and what appeared to be a water bottle fell out of the vehicle. The pursuit then continued through the Orange County area. While driving through Garden Grove on Commonwealth Avenue, the trailer was struck by a BearCat. The pursuit came to an end on the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Franklin Street in Buena Park where the driver was cornered by the police BearCat and other patrol vehicles. Fayed came out of the vehicle with their hands up and was taken into custody. The passenger, who was identified as 42-year-old Carlos Richard Mesta of Rancho Cucamonga, also exited the vehicle. The two men, both the driver and passenger, had a warrant out for their arrest, police said. Fayed was considered armed and dangerous at the time of the arrest as he was on parole. He also had a no-bail warrant for grand theft auto. Mesta had a $250,000 warrant for grand theft auto and $25,000 warrant for domestic violence. Fayed and Mesta were both taken to a hospital to a medical examination although they did not appear to have visible injuries. |

It looks like they crushed something vital like the port gas tank or maybe cut hydraulics to the rear brakes, or harshed the drive line/rear-of-transmission somewhat. After the collision, the truck lays down dark streams as it goes, possibly in time to gear shifts.
