Knife-wielding Man Demanding to Be Shot by Cops Gets Tased Instead

Belen, NM - Police refused to grant the request of a knife-wielding maniac who demanded that they shoot him.

Showing remarkable bravery and restraint, Belen Police officers deployed a taser, and subdued 33-year-old Robert Padilla before he could cause harm to himself or others.

Members of the community have been expressing their gratitude to the local police for their commendable handling of a dangerous situation in the most peaceful method possible.

“Drop the knife, please!” Belen police warned Padilla multiple times.

“Shoot me, fuck you!” Padilla responded. “I don’t give a fuck shove it up your ass!”

“As you can see in the video, he had no intentions of cooperating with the officers in any way,” Belen Police Chief Dan Robb said. “They did have to escalate it a little bit; he was wanting them to do more.”

“I was very happy with the way they handled this,” said Robb. “By just using non-lethal force, they were able to peacefully end this situation without anybody getting hurt.”

At one point, Padilla waves his arms as if he were going to throw the knife, whereby officers deployed a taser, giving them the opportunity to peacefully subdue him.

The story stands in contrast to a recent news item where Sandpoint, Idaho police officers used an AR-15 to execute a pregnant woman who was also wielding a knife. One must wonder why they couldn’t have acted in a similar fashion.

Still, this case study shows laudable behavior on behalf of the Belen Police, who deserve commendations for their bravery and coolheaded behavior in the face of danger.

Padilla was charged with aggravated assault of a police officer. His brother claims he suffers from PTSD.

I don't understand, this was this department's opportunity. The guy was practically begging for it!

It's going to be a long while until they get another chance at a justified shooting.

Definitely begged but maybe they aren't all triggerhappy assholes.

I respect this kind of cops so much more than those pussies who shoot naked guys who don't have any weapons on them. Or maybe they thought that he had bazooka in his ass.

Atlanta-area police shoot dead unarmed and naked African American man

Dekalb County police say Anthony Hill, 27, was ‘acting deranged’
Police chief says the man ran at an officer before he was shot dead

The Georgia bureau of investigation has opened an inquiry into the police shooting of a naked, unarmed and possibly mentally ill man on Monday in DeKalb County.

Anthony Hill, 27, was shot by a police officer at The Heights apartment complex where he lived, just east of Atlanta. Police arrived and encountered Hill after a 911 caller reported a nude man wandering the complex and “acting deranged”, at about 1pm on Monday, according to DeKalb County police.

A seven-year veteran of the county police force responded to the call. Hill, who was black, reportedly ran at the officer who ordered him to stop before shooting him twice in the upper torso.

“The caller reported the man had taken off all of his clothes and was just running throughout the entire complex during the time we received the call,” the DeKalb County police chief, Cedric Alexander, said in a press conference. Alexander said the officer, who has not been named, was suspended pending an investigation.

Hill was “running around” the complex, “crawling around on the ground naked” and hanging off of balconies when police arrived, according to Alexander.

On Twitter, activists picked up the man’s name as a hashtag in calls for change, and others reported he may have had a history of mental illness.

The shooting comes on the heels of a police shooting in Wisconsin, where a 19-year-old unarmed man was shot by police over the weekend, prompting several days of protests.

DeKalb County police have faced criticism over their response to other 911 calls. In January, police shot a man who called 911 after coming home to find his girlfriend stabbed. The man allegedly confronted a police officer, who he thought could have been the intruder, with a gun only to be shot himself, according to local media.

Alexander said the investigation was immediately handed over to the Georgia bureau of investigation “as a result of what’s going on here, across this country”.
In this case there was also tasers available but obviously no balls. http://edition.cnn.com/2015/03/10/us...ing/index.html
Police did not release the officer's name, but said the seven-year veteran was placed on administrative leave. During the incident, the officer had access to his stun gun and pepper spray, Alexander said. Why he chose to draw his weapon will come out during the investigation.

Handled appropriately. Glad that there actually are some decent cops out there.
