Knife Wielding Guy Shot by Athens Police Officer
The Athens-Clarke County Police Department has released the body camera footage from the Officer Involved Shooting on October 5th. The incident took place at 190 Baxter Drive. In the video, the subject identified as Salvador Salazar, swings a large knife or machete at our officer, resulting in our officer firing his weapon. Officers were called to the complex due to a domestic violence incident involving a 28-year-old man. When officers arrived, they found the man armed with a machete. Officers told the man to drop the machete. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was in serious condition. |

Re: Knife Wielding Guy Shot by Athens Police Officer
looked like a Glock 19-9MM Modern frangible 9mm ammo has now closed the gaps between 45 and 9 (look at cororner reports). Plus in a 9mm your capacity is greatly increased. More ammo in a mag is never a bad thing either! I will admit I have lots of fun carrying and shooting my 1911s but my duty/EDC weapon is and always will be a Glock 19. |

Re: Knife Wielding Guy Shot by Athens Police Officer
I carry hollow points(fiocchi, hornandy) actually, I think they are more universal when it comes to most self defense cases and are much more popular. I have seen though that a lot of hollow points only expand maybe half the time. (Gelatin tests). "modern" 9mm hollow points have been shown to be very close to .40, .45 in coroner reports and ballistic tests as well as frangibles. I have seen many more LEOs and armed security officers start to carry frangibles. i'm intrested to hear what you think. It seems to vary but I always stick with what i trust and trained with.

Good police work-steady, calm and knows how to react. Being a law-abiding citizen I LOVE THE COPS. I thank God for men who are so brave.
