Combined dash cam and body worn camera footage shows a car chase that ends with a short foot chase when K9 Jax runs down the fleeing suspect.


The incident occurred on July 31, 2022 as a Marion County Sheriff's Office observed a stolen vehicle and attempted to make the stop. The driver, later identified as 29-year-old Matthew Gebert. Gebert led the officer on a chase for several minutes. Eventually Gebert abandoned the vehicle and attempted to elude on foot. However, the officer Corporal Batts sends Jax after the suspect who is able to bring the suspect down in a matter of seconds.


Gebert for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Fleeing to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting without Violence, Driving without a Valid License, and Violation of Probation.
