Jennifer Murphy, 27, of Woburn was arrested by Lawrence police this morning as she tried to buy drugs at Lowell and Elizabeth streets, about 10 a.m.

Murphy was arrested minutes after she beat and robbed a 59-year-old woman of her purse in front of a grocery store at 186 Haverhill St., in Methuen.

Acting on a hunch, police went to the area, and located the stolen car Murphy was driving. She was arrested at gunpoint by Det. Sgt. Michael Simard. The woman's purse was found in the car.

Murphy now faces criminal charges in Lawrence and Methuen.

You should all be satisfied. Jennifer Murphy committed suicide in prison on February 21.

Maybe you should stop to realize that these are real people with real people who care about them.

I was never very close to Jenn, but she wasn't always a lost soul. She used to be a sweet kid. She just didn't play her cards right.

So, next time, just think before you say callous things about a person's life or death. What she did was horrendous, but she was still a human being with a family and friends.

So if not for her, learn how to think about the other innocent people in the story. You never truly understand the situation unless you are in it.
