At about 6:44 pm on Thursday, June 11, HPD received a call about a suspicious person with a weapon. The caller reported that a man had pointed a gun at him and his child in the 14300 block of Westheimer.

Houston police officers arrived at 6:48 pm and spotted the suspect. They gave him verbal commands to drop the weapon, but he did not comply and ran away.

Officers chased him and continued giving commands. During the pursuit, the suspect pointed the gun at officers multiple times.

In the 2400 block of Briarview, one officer discharged his duty weapon and struck the suspect. The suspect was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
