Hawthorne Hit-and-Run That Injured 3 Women Released
On December 17th, 2016, at approximately 2:14 am, Hawthorne Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Rocket Road in regards to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision. Hawthorne Patrol Officers responded to the scene where they located three injured female adults lying in the street near the crosswalk. All three of the victims were treated on scene by LA County Fire rescue units and then transported to local hospitals for various injuries. All three have since been released from the hospital. Subsequent investigation revealed that a light colored (possibly grey, silver or light green) Toyota Camry was observed driving at a high rate of speed northbound on Crenshaw Blvd just prior to the collision. The vehicle ran the red light at Jack Northrop Avenue before running the red light at Rocket Road and striking all three pedestrians in the crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle continued northbound on Crenshaw Blvd without slowing. Video footage of the accident was obtained and is now being released to the media in the hopes that the public might be able to lend assistance in identifying the suspect in the Camry. We are also looking to make contact with the driver of the small, grey, two door pickup truck seen making a U-turn immediately after the accident and appearing to chase after the suspect. Suspect vehicle: light colored, 2006 Toyota Camry with damage to right front corner of the car. Witness vehicle: small, two door, grey colored pickup truck If anyone has information regarding the above crime, please call the Hawthorne Police Department at 310 349-2702 or 310 349-2727. |
