Authorities in the Dominican Republic arrested a man for allegedly raping and killing his ex-girlfriend's 12-year-old daughter.

Francisco Polo Mateo, 25, allegedly attacked Y. D. R., 12, on April 5 after the victim's mother, J.R.R, 29, kicked him out.

The child's body was found on a bed at her residence. Investigators reported that she showed signs of having been strangled and raped.

A written message on the wall read: 'It pains me that I will not be there to see you suffer too, but I am leaving a happy [person] because of what I did to you.'

The couple had previously been visited by police officers after worried neighbors called 911 due to a string of domestic disputes inside the home.

She reportedly denied there was any violence at the time, and told police neighbors' were trying to break up her romance.

Recently, however, the mother kicked Mateo out of her home and filed a harassment complaint with the local Public Ministry.

Mateo is said to have returned to the home last Friday and allegedly beat the child while she was doing chores.

He placed a phone call to his sister to inform her that he had cut his ex-girlfriend's daughter during a dispute.

Mateo subsequently reached out to her and admitted in a cell phone conversation that he had sexually abused and murdered her daughter.

Angered by her brother's alleged action, she and her sister aided the police in hunting down her brother.

Agents found him hiding behind a bus terminal building and was apprehended.

He was charged with murdering the child and appeared in court.

The Attorney General of the Republic (PGR) reported that he was transferred to the Cucama Correction and Rehabilitation Center, the preventive prisoner Francis Ashil Polo Mateo, who had been assaulted by another inmate in the preventive prison, where he was being held pending the resolution to serve six months in pretrial detention for the sexual abuse and death of a minor.

The PGR offered the information through a press release, where it states that Polo Mateo is receiving medical attention at the penitentiary.

The incident in which he was allegedly attacked, the PGR said that they have already identified the person most responsible for the acts of torture that collect videos and images circulating on social networks.

The alleged aggressor of Polo Mateo, according to the PGR, reported that they will open a new judicial process and will request the imposition of a coercive measure in the next few hours.

Regarding the negligence of the police officers who provide their services in the preventive prison, where the incident occurred, he informed that they proceeded to inform his superiors, who through the internal affairs department of the National Police, conduct the investigations of place to take the corresponding measures.

The PGR stressed that they will not tolerate any type of abuse against persons deprived of their liberty, who said they must serve their sentences for the crimes committed, in accordance with the Constitution and laws, respecting their dignity, both the personnel in charge of the administration of the enclosures as of the inmates themselves.

Polo Mateo is accused of sexually raping and then killing his 12-year-old stepdaughter, because his mother did not want to proceed a relationship with him.
