Re: Guy That Killed His Wife Attacked in Court by Victims Brother
How many times have our system executed the wrong person, as a result of prosecutorial negligence? How many times have our system acquitted known murderers because of "technicalities" due to silly loopholes in the law? How many times have have known rapists and murders received light sentences or acquittals all because of their celebrity status, or their known wealth? Wrongful convictions. Innocent people serving 10, 20, 30 years in prison for crimes they did not commit. Take a look, my friend, at the history of criminal justice in the United States, and you'll see more holes in it than there are craters on the moon. When we have a near perfect legal system (nothing's perfect, I know), free of corruption and prejudice, where one's wealth or social status has about as much weight as that poor hobo living under the bridge, who was so brutally beaten by that gang of low-life thugs, then you can preach the word about due process being the legal panacea. BTW, I had a nephew we was shot to death over a gambling debt, back in 2001. He was never violent in his life, never so much as threatened anyone with bodily harm. And he was killed as a result of debt (don't know the amount) he acquired over losing a bet from a Super Bowl game. The perpetrator served only seven of a fifteen-year sentence. He's walking free. My nephew will be dead forever. Due process. Try telling my nephew that. Good luck. I love the way you people who have never experienced the harshness and cold realities of life can sit back all smug in your homes and use these magic words, like everything's gonna be all right in the morning. Sure I'm aware that vigilante justice is not only wrong, it's barbaric, but in the context of this forum, and based on the video I've just witnessed, and the fact that I feel for the man who lost his sister at the hands of this criminal, the comment I made in regard to allowing that very fellow to have two minutes of "street" justice with that murderer is expressive of how I feel about the manner in which our justice system treats violent criminals. Is it due process when a woman who has been raped, who has suffered a blow to her esteem, and who now suddenly finds herself on trial just because she wore a skirt that might have sent the wrong message to the rapist? Worse, the SOB walks Scott free because of this? Due process. I'm starting to like those words. At any rate, I made a comment, but it doesn't man I will act on it. Just take a look around DR, and see the harsh responses people make about sick and depraved criminals. It doesn't imply these people will go out and kill someone. They're just expressing ourselves, dude. This is Documenting Reality, where here one can let his or her down and write stuff like, "Yeah, well, that child molester should have his dick cut off. Or that scumbag should be locked in a 4x4 cell." If you're looking for sugar-coated comments, you're in the wrong forum, my friend. If you're looking to express your knowledge to others, you're DEFINITELY in the wrong place! |
