10/21/2008 ALHAMBRA Sheriff's homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man who was dropped off in the lobby of a medical facility with a gunshot wound.
Emergency personnel attempted to revive the unidentified man, who was carried into the lobby of the Pacific Orthopaedic & Medical Center on the 700 block of South Garfield Avenue. However, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two men drove up to the facility in a white Infinity G-35 sedan, and the victim's body was then removed from the car, authorities said.
The victim was believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, officials said.
The victim had "at least one" gunshot wound in the upper torso, detectives said.
No gunshots were reported in the area, according to Alhambra police, who responded to the 2:16 p.m. call.
"The person died in our city but we don't know where that shooting occurred," said Alhambra police Lt. Elliot Kase.
Video footage of the drop-off was captured on a security camera.
"We're reviewing videotape," Lt. Patrick Nelson said. "It looks like the individual was dropped off by two males. It appears they abandoned him in the lobby."
Detectives have a partial description of the car's license plate. It is not clear whether the two people in the vehicle were involved in the shooting, Nelson said.
"These are probably going to be cohorts of his as opposed to our suspects," he said.
A witness who was interviewed by investigators said he saw a tall man with a goatee wearing a suit vest and a tie get out of the passenger side of the vehicle.
The man opened the door to the back seat and grabbed the victim by the legs, he said.
The witness then went to park, and when he returned he saw the car speed off.
