George Floyd was an African-American man who died on May 25, 2020, after Derek Chauvin, a white Minneapolis police officer, knelt on Floyd's neck for at least seven minutes while he was handcuffed and lying chest down on the road.

After five minutes, Floyd appeared to stop moving. Officers Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng also helped restrain Floyd, while officer Tou Thao stood nearby to obscure the view of onlookers and cameras.

The incident occurred during an arrest of Floyd for forgery in Powderhorn, a neighborhood south of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, and was recorded on cell phone video by several bystanders. The video recordings, showing Floyd repeatedly saying "I can't breathe," were widely circulated on social media platforms and broadcast by the media. The four officers involved were fired the next day.



The viral video has since sparked protesting/rioting/looting

The 2020 Twin Cities riots or 2020 Minneapolis riots are an ongoing series of American civil disturbances in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area. Unrest began in Minneapolis on May 26, after the death of George Floyd while being restrained by Derek Chauvin, an officer with the Minneapolis Police Department.

Demonstrations and protests were initially peaceful. Disruptive tactics occurred soon after. Windows were smashed at a police precinct, two stores were set on fire, and other stores were looted and damaged in the metropolitan area. Law enforcement responded by shooting tear gas and firing rubber bullets into the crowds.

One man was fatally shot by the owner of a pawnshop when he suspected the victim was trying to steal from his store. At around 11 pm on May 28, protesters overran the 3rd Precinct in Minneapolis and set it ablaze after police evacuated.

You're mixed up. Both are correct. Watch the Denver riots and the Ohio protests and the Manhattan protests etc etc. They all have BLM and oddly placed foreign flags. Mexico being the most obvious at a glance in Denver. Looting a boost mobile store in MN is proof that the mix of people in these gatherings is a small portion of people who identify as a victim in Floyd's killing or feel moved enough to do something. The remaining % is lamprey like citizens using the mob to justify ridiculously outlandish acts of idiocy in public while hiding behind the thinnest of veils by holding up something, a sign, a stick, a flag. Wear a mask and helmet get free stuff while the cops are busy. That's unfortunately many of the perpetrators depth of thought.
