Gas Station Clerk Assaulted by Group of Armed Robbers

Oct. 26th 2008 -- A female clerk at a Raceway service station in Terrell is listed in stable condition after being assaulted early in the morning by 5 males, some armed with guns, police said.

Quote:
At about 5:10, Kaufman County sheriff’s deputies and Terrell police responded to a holdup alarm in the 5400 block of West U.S. Highway 80.

According to Sgt. Bryan Francis, a sheriff's spokesman, the five men split up after entering the store, with several jumping the counter and others going around it.

The men then forced the clerk to the ground and assaulted her with a pistol, he said. They took merchandise, including cigarettes, and cash before fleeing.

When police arrived, the clerk was outside waiting for them. They gave no details about the nature of her injuries. She was taken to a local hospital.

Investigators planned to examine the gas station's surveillance recording equipment.
