PHOENIX Aug 5 2008 - Police in Arizona said a murder suspect's children may have witnessed his violent crime, and the whole thing was caught on video here.

Store security video shows the man entering a Phoenix 7-Eleven convenience store with his two young children.

Investigators said the man allegedly talked to the clerk for several minutes before shooting him to death.

Officers arrested the man, Jermaine Canada, 27, on Monday near the convenience store. Police said he is being held on preliminary charges of first-degree murder and weapons misconduct.

Police say the two children, who are believed to have seen the killing, are now safe with their mother.

In July 2009, Canada pled guilty to first-degree murder to avoid a potential death sentence.

Prosecutors revealed that Canada was high on methamphetamine at the time of the shooting. He did not rob the store or argue with the clerk before opening fire.

The clerk, Inder Jit Jassal, was a 62-year-old Indian immigrant who had moved to the United States to work.

He was handed a life prison sentence and is required to serve a minimum of 25 years before he can legally request parole.
