On March 20, 2025, Chicago police officers responded to a domestic-related call near 900 E. 100th Street.

As officers entered a residence, one officer encountered an armed individual and a victim inside a bedroom. As the victim fled the room, the armed individual pointed a firearm in the direction of the officer.

The officer fired, striking the armed individual. The individual was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, and one officer was taken for observation. A gun was recovered at the scene.
