A family dispute over an ongoing divorce case allegedly turned violent, leaving a 52-year-old father-in-law seriously injured after a brutal hammer and knife attack.

Chandrasekaran and his wife Keerthana had been living separately for six months. When he reportedly arrived on October 25 to take their son out for his birthday, a dispute with his father-in-law Anandan allegedly escalated into violence.

Women who tried to intervene were also attacked. Anandan was rushed to a private hospital in Bengaluru for treatment.

Mathur police arrested Chandrasekaran after he reportedly went into hiding. A case, including an attempted murder charge, has been registered.
