The Albuquerque Police Department described Daniel Webster as a highly decorated officer. He was the department's Uniformed Officer of the Year in 2013 and has been on the force for almost nine years. He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper.

After two surgeries, Webster was in critical but stable condition. Chief Gorden Eden Jr said in a statement that Officer Daniel Webster died at 2.30am a week after the shooting. Webster suffered gunshot wounds to his upper body and jaw on the night of 21 October, police said, after suspect Davon Lymon, 34, opened fire outside a pharmacy.

After police officer Webster was shot in southeast Albuquerque, New Mexico, on October 21, 2015, Davon Lymon, 34, was identified as the suspect and was taken into custody early in themorning, according to local law enforcement.

Lymon allegedly shot at Webster six times. "The APD officer executed a traffic stop on a stolen motorcycle being operated by Lymon which allegedly bore a stolen license plate. As the APD officer approached Lymon and the motorcycle, he spoke to Lymon who allegedly failed to comply with the officer's orders.... When the APD officer attempted to detain and handcuff Lymon, Lymon drew a firearm and shot the officer. Lymon then fled from the scene,"

When officers found Lymon after the shooting, he was hiding in a shed with a handcuff on his left wrist. The suspect was hospitalised for injuries he suffered when he was apprehended by a police dog. Authorities also said a .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol was found in a vacant lot where Lymon went after the shooting.

Davon Lymon, 34, appeared on “Lockup,” a reality show that airs on MSNBC, while he was serving a 10-year sentence at the Penitentiary of New Mexico in Santa Fe.see attached He was accused of killing, the grandson of Blake’s Lotaburger founder Blake Chanslor, in 2001.

Prosecutors issued a warrant Tuesday for eyewitness Savannah Garcia. She was allegedly on the back of the motorcycle Lymon was driving the night of the murder and saw him shoot Officer Webster. She was a key witness but prosecutors couldn’t find her.

Garcia was behind bars in Valencia County for drug charges. She was arrested on March 25 before the warrant was issued. There was a hold on her to make sure she didn’t bond out.

Lymon was sentenced to 18 years of federal imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. The Chief Judge ordered that Lymon serve the 18 year prison sentence consecutive to the 20-year prison sentence previously imposed on April 5, 2017, on Lymon’s conviction on two felon in possession of firearms charges, for a total sentence of 38 years of imprisonment.

After the federal sentence is concluded, Lymon will spend the rest of his life in state prison without parole.
