Drunk Driver Sentenced To 180 Days In Jail For Crash Caught on Dashcam
06-23-2008 Pinellas County sheriff’s office released Dashcam video today of a drunk driver's crash. The video was shot in 2007 and shows the driver run a red light and slam into the side of a Pinellas County sheriff’s car as it goes through an intersection. Neither driver was seriously hurt in the accident, authorities said. The drunken driver was sentenced to 180 days in jail. The Pinellas County sheriff released the tape as the agency fights efforts to cut the department’s budget -- including its DUI unit. Last year deputies arrest 1,469 drunken drivers, and nearly half of those were made by officers in the DUI unit. The sheriff said cutting his budget by the required 10 percent will put other drivers at risk |
