SAND SPRINGS — Police on Monday released video showing a stolen SUV ram a police officer’s car at high speed as the officer fired his gun at the entrance to Northwoods Fine Arts Academy.

On Friday, Sand Springs Police Master Patrol Officer James Matthew Stacy was treated for minor abrasions at a hospital after being thrown from the impact of the crash.

“My only explanation was he was under the protection of God,” Sand Springs Police Chief Mike Carter said at a press conference Monday.

Police arrested Stacey Ann Bunsey, 41, of Tulsa, on complaints of assault and battery with a deadly weapon on a police officer, eluding a police officer, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.

Videos from cameras mounted on police cruiser dashboards and officers’ bodies show the dramatic end to a six-mile pursuit through the streets of the suburb on the west side of Tulsa.

About 12:15 p.m. on Friday, two Sand Springs police cars began pursuing the stolen SUV near Oklahoma 97 and 51st Street.

The pursuit, which police officials described as high-speed, ended when one police cruiser followed the SUV as it drove into the entrance of the Northwoods school while the second cruiser, driven by Officer Stacy, stopped to try to block the SUV’s exit.

Carter said Stacy told investigators he intended to deploy “stop sticks” to disable the tires on the SUV but realized he didn’t have time and instead took cover behind the door of his car.

The SUV first circled the parking lot at Northwoods, a Sand Springs Public Schools facility serving about 450 students in kindergarten through second grade at 81st West Avenue and Old North Road.

Video shows that the SUV then accelerated and rammed into Stacy’s police car as gunshots from the officer’s weapon rang out.

From the perspective of Stacy’s body camera, the officer can be seen tumbling and then standing up to assist his fellow officer in trying to apprehend the SUV’s driver.

Rather than comply with the officers’ instructions to put her hands up, the suspect stands up through a moonroof in the SUV, smiling and waving one hand while she screams expletives at the officers.
She can also be heard screaming, “I’m God, bitch. Welcome to hell!”

After being struck by a police Taser, the suspect drops onto the floor of the SUV, and officers enter the vehicle and take her out.

Carter said the bruises beneath the woman’s eyes in her mugshot were from the SUV’s airbags deploying and slamming her sunglasses into her face.

Carter accused the suspect of intentionally trying to harm or kill the police officer.
“She had two lanes she could have utilized to bypass the officer,” Carter said, estimating that the SUV was traveling at 50 mph when it rammed the police car. “This is reflective of what’s going on because you can’t turn on the news at night and not see police denigrated.”

No students or school personnel at Northwoods were harmed, though the school was placed on lockdown briefly.

Carter said Stacy’s use of deadly force in the encounter was justified and posed no threat to people inside the school building, which he estimated was 0.15 mile from the spot where the shots were fired. Stacy is expected to return to work later this week.

According to the arrest and booking report file for Bunsey by Sand Springs police, the woman told officers she is from Alaska.

They described her speech as “accelerated and random” and observed what appeared to be “uncontrolled movements throughout her body and jaw.”

The report states that when police read Bunsey the Miranda warning and asked if she wished to make a statement, she recited the Lord’s Prayer.

She also reportedly told police she “did some ice” a couple of days earlier, referring to a street name for methamphetamine, and also stated that she “did a line of ice last night.”

This cop either wanted a pension, had a death with, or adrenaline had him so slow mo in his vision that he had matrix type capabilities.....it must have been the adrenaline
