A Volusia County man was arrested Thursday October 27th after authorities said he was caught driving the wrong way on a busy road and tried to ram a police car.
Authorities with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said Ronald Pinkerton, 68, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 1 in Port Orange.
Investigators said they tried twice to stop Pinkerton using stop-sticks, but he continued to drive on flattened tires at or below the posted speed limit.
Pinkerton was finally stopped by authorities on U.S. 1 in Flagler County.
Officials said Pinkerton was transported to a hospital for treatment before being booked into the Flagler County Jail. He faces charges of fleeing and eluding authorities, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and several traffic charges.
