Former Milwaukee County Sheriff's Deputy Scott Krause gave the handcuffed Ray Calderone a warning.

Calderone was asking to use the bathroom, and chose not to heed the deputy's warning.
He kept kicking the window of the squad car he was in.

Less a minute later, Deputy Krause snapped.

On the tape, it went like this:

(Slap, slap)

"I told you to ... stop kicking the window," Krause told Calderone.

(Punch, punch)

More than four months later, the victim asked a judge to make an example out of his attacker.

"I haven't been the same psychologically or physically, Calderone said in court on Friday.

Prosecutors admit Calderone was unruly that night, but say there is no excuse for losing control.

Krause's attorney says his client suffers from PTSD after four years in the army, and has zero history of violence.

The former deputy tearfully apologized to his victim, his family, to the community and coworkers.

"I'm also sorry to other law enforcement officers that may have gotten a bad name from what I did," Krause said.

The judge recognized Krause's contrition and clean record, but sentenced him to a year and a half in prison, saying the shock from this abuse of power is too great to ignore.

Calderone did not want to talk after court today, but through his attorney, he said the sentence was fair.

The suspect deserved it. He was kicking on the window for no apparent reason. I'm glad I wasn't that deputy, I would have done a lot worse to the suspect. I would have broken his damn nose and knocked him out. It's annoying for a detainee to kick on a window.

Did you watch the video? He was barely tapping and it was because he had to piss. He obviously couldn't tap with his hands because they were in cuffs. Deputy got what he deserved for beating a HANDCUFFED man in the back of a cruiser.
