Around December 11, 2013, a state prisoner escaped in Athens-Clarke County, Georgia, and drove a stolen taxi into Oconee County. Deputies spotted the taxi in a subdivision and pursued it, with the chase recorded by a patrol car's dashboard camera. The taxi crashed near a restaurant on Epps Bridge Road. The prisoner was captured after a short foot chase.

Two motorists were injured in separate wrecks caused by 21-year-old Daylon Kentrell White during his reckless bid for freedom.

White is serving a 10-year prison sentence for a DeKalb County robbery conviction and was being housed at the Athens-Clarke County Correctional Institution, a medium-level security facility that provides work details for the county.

Athens-Clarke County police said White was part of a detail doing some work along the Athens Perimeter at about 10 a.m. Wednesday when he ran to the county’s Fleet Management facility on Newton Bridge Road and stole a taxi van.

glad they caught him and he will probably serve some more time after this stupid action.
