A Cape Girardeau, Missouri police officer got more than he bargained for
when he answered a shots-fired call.
He encountered a large street fight and ended up becoming a target.
Video shows a disturbance erupting as a police officer tries to handcuff a suspect.
A woman approaches and the officer tries to push her away.
She then returns and appears to be trying to punch the officer and pull the suspect away, before being pulled away by someone else in the crowd.
Police Chief Carl Kinnison says this type of incident between officers and
residents happens about half a dozen times a year, but it's rarely caught on camera.
Officers were later able to search the area for any trace of a bullet.
Three adults were taken into custody including a man, a woman and a juvenile.
Police said they could face charges ranging from 2nd and 3rd degree assault to assaulting a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
They also said more arrests are pending.
