CHP Officers End Pursuit with Third PIT Maneuver, Overturn Car
California Highway Patrol officers overturned a fleeing driver's car with a third PIT maneuver in Los Angeles on May 13, 2021. The pursuit began after the driver was moving too slowly in a carpool lane in South Los Angeles and impeding traffic. The first PIT maneuver failed to stop the car. A second maneuver brought it to a stop, and officers drew their guns, but the driver backed up, turned around and continued fleeing. The third maneuver overturned the car. Officers broke a window, pulled the driver out and pinned him down before taking him into custody. No injuries were reported.
