Yay another law suit that will increase my taxes. Hold cops financially responsible for lawsuits and police brutality will disappear overnight. Or make them have insurance like doctors. |

Officers have always been held financially and criminally responsible for dumbass moves or abuse outside the scope of their duties. It hasn't stopped or prevented decent cops from having a regretful dumbass moment. Some cops do purchase their own insurance for law enforcement in case of false arrest or other accusations of malpractice. Essentially to keep them from losing their homes, pensions, and life savings over an error in judgement. Never jump to conclusions based on first video. There may be something else going on that can't be seen, (ex. George Floyd). This cop may have been taking perfectly reasonable action under yet to be revealed extenuating circumstances. This will be interesting to see play out. |

Re: CALIFORNIA: Deputies Seen Kneeing, Punching Suspect in Head
None of what you said is true. Lmao. I know in California California law protects police from being sued for any harm that happens during a prosecution process — even if the officer acted “maliciously and without probable cause.” Officers cast tax payers billions in lawsuit settlements and most end up staying on the job in some capacity. Those settlements come from taxes. There is no arguing that, meaning when taxes are raised to get funds for projects it is because funds were used for other things like settlements. You can smoke cop pole all day, but denying the impact lawsuits have on city funds is insane. |
