NORFOLK, VA Something went terribly wrong with what seemed like a typical cab ride on July 9 2008.
Quote:
Surveillance video from inside the cab shows the customer lean over the front seat, grab the driver, and begin stabbing him.
During the struggle you can hear the driver yelling for the suspect to get out.
Police said the suspect demanded money before stabbing the driver.
Once the suspect finally got out, you could see blood stains all over the driver.
Residents who live on Myers Road in Norfolk can't believe it happened in their neighborhood.
"That's shocking. Everything is pretty safe around here," said Kio Taylor.
"It used to be people would run if they didn't have money, but to stab somebody, that's crazy," added Raynetta Bennett.
Ron Williams has lived in the area for about a year and a half.
He said his apartment complex is working on getting surveillance cameras installed.
But in the meantime, he said there are supposed to be not one, but two security guards canvassing the area.
"We have a school over here, and a school on the next block. We're right between two schools. It's normally pretty quiet. I don't find too much trouble whatsoever."
Police said the cab driver did not suffer any life threatening injuries.
