MEMPHIS, Tenn. The glass is shattered police say with the help of a socket wrench.
But breaking the glass door proves more dangerous for the burglar suspected of stealing from MLGW.(Memphis light water & gas)
After crawling through the door frame, the suspect entering the Summer Avenue location soon realizes he's been cut in the right leg.
Police say enough blood was left behind to collect as evidence and its being analyzed.
They say in the end all the suspect got away with was a clipboard with papers.
"Just a single clipboard that had no information on it whatsoever. Just blank pages," said MLGW Spokesperson, Chris Stanley.
Stanley says that stolen clipboard held the daily customer sign in sheets.
"But the previous days sheet had been put away and so this was a clean sheet on there so no customer information was compromised at all," said Stanley.
Stanley says the suspect also rummaged through some desk drawers while inside the payment center June 30th.
The break in happened at 6:30 a.m., 2 hours before the business day begins.
"We don't know what he was looking for but he didn't take anything else," Stanley said.
From the looks of MLGW's surveillance video the suspect may have even made a payment before the burglary.
He is standing in front of an automatic teller machine possibly paying his monthly utility bill.
All 5 of MLGW's payment centers keep one set of doors open 24/7 to access them.
It was the second set of glass doors the suspect shattered to actually get into the building.
