And that boys and girls is why criminals hate an armed populous. If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns, this is a perfect example of why anyone needs a firearm, the guy with the shotgun was just lucky he didn't have to pull the trigger.

Cavazos is indeed lucky that he didn't have to pull the trigger, but maybe not for the reason many would think: he exited his house and was willing to employ lethal force in defense of property. Those are two big legal no-no's.

Doesn't quite work that way, especially given the surveillance footage. Once Cavazos walked out of his front door, the widely-accepted castle doctrine failed to apply. If he had shot that guy, he would have been in seriously deep shit.
