The owner of a market in Umuarama took advantage of a moment of distraction by an assailant and fired two pistol shots at the suspect. The robbery attempt was this Friday (10), late in the morning. After the police arrived, it was found that the weapon used by the robber was a fake pistol.

"I was attending to a customer, when the guy arrived and pointed the gun at my head. I didn't think twice and reacted to defend my life. What I heard is that he got out of jail three days ago," said the merchant.

Both shots hit the suspect in the abdomen. He received care from Samu and was take to Hospital. Upon discharge, the robber will be arrested.

The merchant's weapon is registered. The elderly woman who appears finalizing the purchase, when the robber arrives, was not injured.

The policy of the police is never to react to a robbery.
