Body Camera Footage of an Officer Shooting Man Holding a Knife
MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Authorities in Muskogee have released body camera footage of an officer-involved shooting that occurred earlier this month. On Aug. 7, police say Officer James Moore was driving in Muskogee when he was flagged down by a witness who said a man with a gun was acting strangely. When Moore arrived at the scene, he learned that Sean Ellis was armed with a knife and was refusing to obey commands. Authorities say when Ellis took a step toward Moore, he fired three shots at him. Ellis was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is recovering from his injuries. The district attorney’s office will determine if the shooting was justified. |

True, but I also hear they're understaffed. So perhaps they're trying to get every situation over with as soon as possible? Idk about that either because sometimes I'll see about 8 cop cars at Dunkin Donuts at the same time.

Per the Teuller Drill, that guy was plenty close to represent a lethal threat to the officer. Once he started to advance upon the officer, he was justified in shooting to stop the perp. Good shoot.

Looks fair to me. Nothing to see here! Cops don't need that shit. Even when some cops deliver a great karmic beat-down sometimes, it's one last criminal pushing them too far. |

Cop was poorly trained. He should have never gotten that close to a man with a knife in the first place. Seems like he was looking for any little reason to fire is weapon.

I wouldn't call that jitter of a step, a step forward. Definitely not a reason to put three bullets in a guys stomach. Shit after the first shot he was already keeling over, but officers gotta do what he's trained to do, better put two more in him for good measure.
