The Phoenix Police Department on Tuesday released body-camera footage of an officer firing at a driver fleeing a stop.

Around 8 a.m. on July 20, police initially responded to a suspicious-vehicle call.

The video, captured by the officer's body camera, begins moments after he pulled over 22-year-old Antonio Garcia Goff in an area near Greenway Parkway and Seventh Street.

The recording officer first asks Goff if he has any identification, but then immediately sees a stun-gun and a knife on the passenger seat. The weapons can be seen in the body-camera video.

"You've got a stun gun and a knife on your front seat,'' the officer says.

"I'm sorry,'' Goff responds, with his hands behind his head while seated behind the wheel.

"Get out,'' the officer orders.

"OK,'' Goff responds, before rolling up the window. He then starts driving.

The officer then pulls his gun, points it at the window and says, "I'm going to (expletive) put a ...'' before trailing off and lowering his gun.

The video shows the car back up slightly while the officer shouts, "Don't, don't, don't!''

Other officers can be seen moving in from behind the car. When the car starts moving forward, in the direction of the recording officer, he opens fire. Six shots can be heard as the car drives off.

Police said after the incident that Goff was driving toward the officer.

Phoenix police identified the officer who fired as Officer George Davis, 45, a 17-year veteran of the force.

After Goff drove away, Davis got into his patrol vehicle and drove in pursuit along with other police units, the video shows. As he drove, Davis at one point can be heard saying, "(Expletive), what did I do?"

The video does not show when officers found Goff.

Police said they tracked him down in a residential backyard. He was taken into custody with the help of a police dog, police said.

Goff was booked into jail on an outstanding warrant, as well as on suspicion of aggravated assault on an officer and trespassing, according to authorities.

Sgt. Alan Pfohl, a department spokesman, said Tuesday the incident remains under investigation and that the department would have no further comment until it is concluded.
